Working with Heron Press was an exciting opportunity that allowed me to merge my passion for reading with my skills in graphic design. Heron Press is an independent publishing house located in Eau Claire, known for producing works such as Yesterday Quarterly, a magazine that promotes the talents of local creatives and entrepreneurs.

 

I was initially approached with the idea of digitizing a heron illustration to serve as the logo. After discussing the project with the client, I simplified the illustration and drew inspiration from antique bookplates. I also developed a moody and sophisticated color scheme that references the logo's natural origins. To complete the branding system, I created a series of patterns that can be utilized for various promotional materials in the future, whether for print or digital needs.
